Police officers attacked in Prizren while intervening in a domestic violence case

Kosovo Police have announced that in the village of Poslishte, Prizren, a woman has sought police assistance after being physically attacked by her husband. The incident, according to the announcement, occurred on 19.01.2026, at around 02:10.
According to the report, after the Police arrived at the scene, the victim's husband, brother and father attacked the police officers and attempted to attack the victim again.
"During the confrontation, the police were physically attacked and stoned, while the victim was threatened and seriously endangered. To prevent the attack and protect the victim's life, the police intervened with force, managing to bring the situation under control," the statement said.
It was further announced that the three suspects were arrested and taken to the police station.
"During the scuffle, several police officers suffered minor injuries and received medical treatment. Regional investigators have been notified and are handling the case," the statement said.
The custody team from the Regional Investigation Sector of the Regional Police Directorate in Prizren is engaged in the case.
"The suspects exercised their right to remain silent during their statements. One of them received medical assistance for injuries sustained during the arrest," the Police further announced.
It is said that the acting prosecutor from the General Crimes Department has issued a 48-hour detention order for the three suspects.
