Police in Gjilan issue 1778 fines within a week, 72 drivers banned from driving

The Regional Police Directorate in Gjilan, through the Regional Road Traffic Unit and police stations, has carried out increased traffic safety activities during the period 6–12 February 2026.
According to the official announcement, during this period, a total of 1778 fines were issued to traffic violators. The police also investigated 16 traffic accidents with material damage and 15 accidents with injuries.
As part of the punitive measures, 72 drivers have been banned from driving motor vehicles for serious violations of traffic rules.
The police announce that violators who receive the fine through the postal service and pay it within 15 days from the date of receipt will benefit from a 50 percent discount on the amount of the fine. The payment deadline begins from the day of receipt of the notification.
In case of uncertainty regarding the payment deadline or procedure, citizens can go to the police station or the competent unit that imposed the fine to verify and update the data.
Likewise, every offender has the legal right to file an appeal against the fine, arguing the reasons for the objection.
