A passenger plane crashed shortly after takeoff at Mogadishu's Aden Adde International Airport.

But fortunately, all passengers and crew were safely evacuated, Somali officials said, foreign media write, reports Telegraph.


The plane, operated by Starsky Airline, was heading to Galkayo when it experienced a technical failure shortly after takeoff, according to the Somali Civil Aviation Authority.

Officials said the pilot attempted to turn around and land in Mogadishu but was unable to maintain control after landing.

The plane crossed the runway and stopped near the coastline.

Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene and assisted those on board.

There were reportedly 50 passengers and crew members on board and witnesses said the plane was flying extremely low before crashing into shallow water and coming to rest on the shore.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. /Telegrafi/
