Plane to Alicante, Spain, forced to divert after 'unruly passengers' cause problems

A plane was en route from Manchester Airport to Alicante, Spain, on Friday when passengers were "disturbed".

According to foreign media, the Boeing plane was forced to divert to Barcelona, causing a long delay.

Police were called to deal with the incident as soon as the plane landed in Barcelona.

A Jet2 spokesperson told Metro in a statement: "Flight LS881 was diverted to Barcelona so that police could remove some disruptive passengers."

"The plane continued to its destination after a delay."

"As a family-friendly airline, we follow a zero-tolerance approach to disruptive behavior."

The plane tracking website Flightradar24 appears to show that the plane made a loop over the city of Sabadell, Catalonia, before making another turn over the Mediterranean and landing at Barcelona airport.

Flight tracking data shows that the plane eventually arrived in Alicante just before 22pm local time.

The unplanned stop due to the passenger's behavior caused other passengers to wait for almost three hours. /Telegraph/
