Petrova: In the last five months, 24% of the VAT debt was not paid within the legal deadline

Elena Petrova, director of the Public Revenue Directorate, said that 24% of the VAT debt has not been paid in the last five months, which is a positive trend, unlike last year's figures.

"On average, in the last five months, 24% of the VAT debt amount has not been paid within the legal term, and there is a slight positive trend here. Because the average amount of the debt last year was around 31%, which shows me that with all these messages that we send, both personalized and as public announcements, we made the VAT pay the debt", said Petrova in " DailyClick".

She said she had certain suspicions that taxpayers may have breached the norms.

"We constantly discover certain situations on a daily basis and come across certain suspicions that some tax officials may have violated the norms of professional conduct and caused damage either to a taxpayer or to DAP, in collecting taxes and making mistakes , and those in the continuation of such procedures, we question the actions of the professional standards unit and have opened more such procedures, which are ongoing.

Regarding the tax officials, they are waiting in the investigative bodies, there are doubts about tax affairs, related to tax evasion or misuse of the VAT refund, and we let the investigative bodies lead the procedure", said Petrova./Telegrafi/
