Pep Guardiola draws up an 11-man squad - aiming for a total rebuild of Man City

Manchester City are planning a squad rebuild ahead of the opening of the January transfer window, with several big names among the possible candidates. 

By their lofty standards, the start to the 2024/2025 season has been abysmal for Manchester City, who are going through an extremely poor run of results. 

Pep Guardiola's side suffered their seventh defeat in their last 10 games on Wednesday as they were beaten 2-0 by Juventus in the Champions League. 

As a result of this rapid decline, City have been linked with a number of players ahead of the opening of the winter transfer window. 

In fact, The Telegraph have reported that there could be between four and six signings in the next two transfer windows, as the defence, midfield and attack all require 'operation'. 

Several midfielders have been mentioned including Martin Zubimendi, although the Spaniard may wait until the summer as he has 'reserves' if he will be Rodri's replacement after returning from injury. 

Ederson (Atalanta) is also a name that has been discussed along with Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) and Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle United).

In addition, City is also monitoring several attacking midfielders, where it is already known that they admire the profile of Florian Wirtz, while Eberechi Eze and Matheus Cunha are also on the short list.
