Patriku Bartolomeu letter of support for the 'Olive Branch' operation

Greek Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Istanbul has sent a letter to the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, where he expressed support for the 'Olive Branch' operation in Afrin, Syria, Anadolu Agency reports.

"We pray to the Holy God with all our hearts that the operation 'Olive Branch', launched with the determination of your Excellency, besides putting an end to the problem of terrorism which has cost the lives of thousands of people and has preoccupied our country for tens of years, also bring peace to Syria. Our hope and that of our congregation is that by putting an end to terrorism which has affected and disturbed all our citizens, starting with our Kurdish compatriots in the southeast, and our country will develop rapidly in a safe environment," the letter says. of Bartholomew.


In his letter, Bartholomew said that in their rituals, which are the ancient traditions of the church, they always pray for the survival of the state, the health of the leaders of the state, the well-being and happiness of the people as well as for the salvation of hundreds of thousands of people who live in southern neighbors starting from Syria and who have been displaced from their homes by the fighting.

"Your Excellency's firm stance towards the categorization of terrorism is creating a great reflection in world public opinion. We wish success to your excellency and the Turkish Armed Forces and hope that Operation Olive Branch will bring peace to the region as it is named and give hope for a secure future to the people tormented by many pains.
