Pacolli continues with warnings about illegal construction in national parks

Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Victory Pacolli, has emphasized the importance of protecting national parks, describing them as precious natural assets that must be preserved for future generations.
In a public reaction, Pacolli assessed that these areas play an important role in preserving the country's natural resources and biodiversity.
"National parks are our most precious treasures. They preserve the waters, clean air, biodiversity and beauty of our country's mountains and forests," Pacolli wrote.
She added that their protection should be seen as a shared social and institutional responsibility.
"Protecting them is a national duty," the minister said.
Her statement comes a few days after the decision to ban any unauthorized construction activity within the Bjeshkët e Nemuna and Sharri national parks.
According to her, the decision aims to restore legality and order in protected areas, by prohibiting the circulation of vehicles transporting construction materials and heavy machinery without authorization from the ministry.
The decision has also sparked reactions on the political scene. The former leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, has described it as wrong and disconnected from the reality of the residents living in those areas.
According to Haradinaj, the ban on the transport of construction materials in the Rugova area and in Bjeshkët e Nemuna could directly affect the lives of residents and the economic development of villages located within this area.
He emphasized that these regions are not only protected natural areas, but also settlements where families face infrastructural and economic challenges. /Telegrafi/
