Over 38 packages of ballots received by mail have been verified

The Central Election Commission (CEC) announces that the process of evaluating packages with ballots from voting outside Kosovo, respectively from voting by mail, is continuing.

According to CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi, from February 9, when the evaluation and verification of packages with ballots from voting outside Kosovo began, until now, February 18, 38,229 packages have been subjected to this process, of which 35,832 have been approved, while 2,397 have been rejected.

"The reason why these submissions were rejected is that they were sent by people who were canceled during their voter registration outside of Kosovo; they are missing their registration receipt; they were sent more than once, etc.," Elezi announced.

Furthermore, according to him, in general, during postal voting, the CEC has received around 69 thousand packages of ballots and only at the end of their evaluation process will it be known exactly how many packages of ballots will be subject to counting.

"According to the procedures, the packages with ballots are subject to the evaluation process, which includes verifying whether they belong to registered voters and whether other prescribed procedures have been followed, while the counting of these ballots will take place at the Counting and Results Center," Elezi said, RTK reports.

Overall, the number of Kosovo citizens registered to vote outside Kosovo was 104,924, of whom 20,324 were registered to vote at diplomatic missions and 15,352 voted, while 84,600 citizens were registered to vote by mail.
