In two days, over 1400 fines for traffic violations

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Macedonia announces that continuing with intensified traffic controls on roads throughout the country, during the last two days (April 28/29), police officers issued a total of 1425 fines for violations committed based on the provisions of the Law on Road Traffic Safety and the Law on Vehicles.

"Within this figure, based on violations committed by traffic participants – for improper parking and speeding, 415, or 333 violations, were recorded. In addition, 144 drivers were recorded without a driving license, 71 road users were sanctioned for not wearing a seat belt, 39 motorcycle drivers for not wearing a protective helmet and 64 for using a mobile phone while driving."

"Also, according to statistical data, in six cases drivers ran red lights, in 18 cases drivers were found to have an illegal amount of alcohol in their blood, and 15 pedestrians were also sanctioned. Based on the Law on Vehicles, 48 ​​vehicles were removed from traffic, 14 due to technical defects and 34 vehicles were removed from traffic because they were unregistered."


"Traffic controls will continue in the coming days. We appeal to citizens to respect traffic rules, especially during tomorrow's holiday, and to ensure that drivers do not get behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol," the Macedonian Interior Ministry says.
