The country's President, Vjosa Osmani, has criticized the European Union regarding its approach to Kosovo, saying that she does not see the progress that has been made, while according to her, the membership application made in December 2022 is still on the shelf and has not been reviewed.

Osmani in a statement to "Politico"He stressed that the state of Kosovo does not flirt with other countries, which he calls the "triangle of evil", Russia, China and Iran.

She said that the citizens of Kosovo see no other path than that of European integration.

"... we do not feel that this pro-European approach and the fact that we are 100% aligned with the EU's common foreign and security policy is seen or appreciated, on the contrary, it seems to be taken for granted," Osmani said.

The President of the state further emphasized that 97% of people in Kosovo are pro-European, while reforms in the economy, justice, especially in the fight against crime and corruption have been fundamental.

"...However, on our path to European integration, we are blocked. And it seems like the merit-based process, which the EU talks so much about, remains something that needs to come. I still don't see it happening," Osmani said.

The head of state also spoke about the possibility of Germany pushing forward the Kosovo integration process.

She said she hopes for such a thing, while adding that Kosovo is not seeking charity or a shortcut, but a further postponement of the process based on merit.

Osmani also mentioned the fact that Kosovo applied for membership in December 2022, while this has not yet been reviewed.

"Our application in December 2022 is in their drawers, it hasn't even been reviewed...", she said.

Osmani, in this statement to Politico, also emphasized that Kosovo has the youngest population in Europe, which speaks many languages and is competitive in IT. /Telegraph/
