Osmani says he congratulated Rama: Kosovo-Albania relations are like those between sisters

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has stated that she has already congratulated the leader of the Socialist Party, Edi Rama, on his victory in the parliamentary elections in Albania, emphasizing that communication between the two countries is daily and fraternal.

"Actually, I congratulated the prime minister. We spoke on the phone, I congratulated him yesterday, I congratulated him today. It is a victory for the citizens of the Republic of Albania," Osmani told reporters.

The President emphasized that as an institutional practice, the official congratulatory letter is sent the moment a prime minister takes office after a vote in Parliament. "Usually we send letters the moment the office is taken and they are voted in Parliament, which I believe will happen very soon. This is a technical and procedural issue," she emphasized.

Speaking about relations between Kosovo and Albania, Osmani expressed himself in heartfelt tones: "The relations between our two countries are more than brotherly, they are like relations between two sisters. And as you know, relations between sisters are always better, more sincere and more supportive than those between brothers."

Osmani also mentioned expectations for Albania's advancement towards the European Union, calling this a good omen for the entire region.

"I very much hope that, as announced, Albania will soon move forward with the opening of the third cluster in negotiations with the EU. This is a positive signal for our entire region and for the European future that we all aim for," concluded Osmani.
