Osmani to Sorensen: The success of the dialogue depends on the equal treatment of the parties

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received today in a meeting the European Union Special Representative for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Peter Sorensen.
According to the media release, the meeting discussed the latest political developments in Kosovo, the electoral processes, the security situation, relations with the European Union, as well as the future of the dialogue with Serbia.
During the meeting, Osmani emphasized the importance of a dialogue process focused on mutual recognition.
"The dialogue process must be focused on mutual recognition and that the success of the dialogue also depends on the equal treatment of the parties," said Osmani.
She also criticized Serbia's positions, saying that it is the one that constantly violates agreements.
"Serbia has continuously violated the Brussels Agreement and the Ohrid Annex, violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo, committing acts of aggression, and opposing Kosovo's membership in international organizations," Osmani declared.
The President underlined the need for clear objectives and measurable results in the European integration process:
"Selective interpretation of agreements harms the process," she said.
She also informed Sorensen about the successful conduct of parliamentary and local elections in Kosovo.
"The elections proved the democratic maturity of the state and the functioning of institutions in full compliance with European standards," said Osmani.
Regarding relations with the European Union, President Osmani welcomed the lifting of measures against Kosovo, describing this as an important step.
"This is an important step towards restoring full and equal partnership between Kosovo and the EU," said Osmani.
Speaking about Kosovo's European perspective, Osmani added that granting the status of candidate country for the European Union is a strategic necessity, not only for Kosovo, but also for the stability of the region and the credibility of the EU itself.
She also pledged to continue working with EU institutions and member states to advance Kosovo's candidate status.
"We will continue to work without further delay to advance Kosovo's candidate status," said Osmani. /Telegraph/
