The country's President, Vjosa Osmani, today in an appearance on the "Fox and Friends" program on FOX News emphasized that Kosovo is the most pro-American country in the world.

Osmani emphasized that this has been the case since 1999 when American soldiers rescued the citizens of Kosovo and that Kosovo today is free and sovereign because the US did not stand idly by and did not turn a blind eye to the genocide.

“Kosovo is the most pro-American country in the world and we hold this as a great honor. It has been this way since 1999, when American soldiers came to save us. Today we exist as a free and sovereign nation because the United States did not stand idly by, did not turn a blind eye to our suffering during the genocide, but came to our aid and believed in our God-given right to be free as a nation. Therefore, today over 97% of Kosovo’s citizens are pro-American. We believe in American leadership and continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the United States, now also defending other countries that need our help,” she said.

Speaking about the security situation in Kosovo and the region, the head of state said that Serbia occasionally wants to create problems, while recalling that in the past this country caused conflicts in the Western Balkans.

"As you know, we have a neighbor who from time to time wants to create problems. Serbia in the past caused a number of conflicts in the Western Balkans because it was led by the butcher of the Balkans, Milosevic... The point is that there are still people in the leadership of Serbia who want to cling to the past and take us all back there, while we want to look to the future. President Trump has helped us a lot to support and preserve peace, to save lives. And that has been essential," she said, reports the Telegraph.

Further, the head of state emphasized that there have been escalations in recent years, while mentioning the act of aggression by Serbia in September 2023.

“We have had several escalations in recent years. For example, in September 2023 there was an act of aggression by Serbia against the Republic of Kosovo. We managed to repel it with the support of our NATO allies. However, there is a continuing threat from Serbia. Last May, there was another attempt at escalation, if I may call it that. And this administration has done an excellent job of preventing things from getting worse,” Osmani said.

Considering the global situation, the head of state was further asked what she wants to hear today from US President Donald Trump, who will be at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

“The President has always been a leader who speaks with clarity, strength and conviction. So as he takes the stage today at the United Nations, we expect a powerful message of peace through strength, which has brought results in our part of Europe, because this is the only message that autocrats and ruthless leaders around the world who want to kill and cause suffering understand. President Trump, as I said, has been very successful in preventing further escalations and new wars. Think about it: we are a country where every generation before our children has gone through a war; our grandparents went through a war; our parents, we, went through a genocidal war. And now our children can sleep without the sound of guns and without the fear with which we grew up as children of war, thanks to American leadership... We rely on this formula of 'peace through strength' to continue,” she said. /Telegraph/
