According to a Chinese tipster on Weibo, OpenAI is preparing to launch its first hardware product — a pair of headphones, of course, powered by the company's artificial intelligence model.

According to the report, the company decided to scale back its hardware efforts for the time being, possibly due to rising hardware costs, the Telegraph reports.

Initially, OpenAI was rumored to be working on a small pendant or pen, which is in line with CEO Sam Altman's remarks about the device being more "peaceful and quiet" than a smartphone. Especially since OpenAI hired former Apple chief designer Jony Ive.

Plans have probably changed since the first mention of the device, and the company has decided to opt for something simpler - headphones with artificial intelligence.

No further details are available other than that it will likely be called "Dime." It is expected to be released by the end of this year, and once the lack of HBM (high bandwidth memory) is fixed, OpenAI will introduce a more advanced version of the product. /Telegraph/
