One of the largest ammunition depots belonging to the Russian Defense Ministry has been engulfed in flames after an apparent explosion.

Footage shared on Telegram shows a fireball exploding in the sky about 330 miles from the Russian border with Ukraine, the Telegraph reports.

Hell is located in the Vladimir region, in the Kirzhach district, near the village of Barsovo.

Alexander Avdeev, the Russian governor for the region, confirmed the incident on VKontakte, saying: "An explosion occurred in the Kirzhach district."

"Responsible services are working at the scene. More detailed information will be reported later. I call on journalists, bloggers and residents to refrain from disseminating any information regarding the incident for security reasons and in accordance with regional legislation until receiving verified official data," Avdeev added.

Russian state media Tass reported that residents of Barsovo are being evacuated as the fire continues to rage. The cause of the explosion remains unclear and officials have declined to comment on it.

Domestically, Russian weapons depots, factories, and railroads have suffered at the hands of saboteurs fighting against the occupation.

But Ukraine has also targeted key infrastructure to slow the army's advances, and to prevent the redeployment of ammunition to the front line.

The incident comes after Vladimir Putin launched brutal new daytime attacks on civilians in Ukraine, leaving a trail of death and destruction.

Volodymyr Zelensky accused him of "absolutely deliberate Russian terror", with at least 22 injured in Zaporizhzhia and a woman killed. /Telegraph
