One month detention for suspect in murder of 19-year-old in Vushtrri

The Basic Court in Mitrovica has ordered a one-month detention order for 19-year-old BD, suspected of murdering his peer on Sunday in Vushtrri.

This decision was made by the Serious Crimes Department of the Basic Court in Mitrovica, after the Basic Prosecution had requested detention for the suspect.

The news was confirmed through an official announcement from the Court.

According to the official announcement, the detention was ordered based on reasonable suspicion that the defendant BD has committed the criminal offenses of "Aggravated Murder" and "Unauthorized Ownership, Control or Possession of Weapons."

"The Basic Court in Mitrovica, Department for Serious Crimes, has approved the request of the Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica by determining the measure of detention in the criminal case against the defendant BD, with reasonable suspicion for the criminal offenses: Aggravated Murder under Article 173, paragraph 1, sub-paragraph 1.5 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo (CCRK) and Unauthorized Ownership, Control or Possession of Weapons, under Article 366, paragraph 1 of the CCRK. The measure of detention for the defendant BD has been determined for a duration of 1 (one) month," the announcement states.

The serious incident occurred on Sunday in Vushtrri, where the 19-year-old is suspected of shooting dead the victim, who was his age.

The police and investigative bodies have taken the necessary actions to clarify the circumstances of the case, while the victim's body has been sent for an autopsy.

Investigations are continuing to uncover the motives of the incident and to provide all necessary evidence for legal proceedings against the suspect.

The court also announced that this decision is not final and that dissatisfied parties have the right to appeal to the Court of Appeal through the Basic Court in Mitrovica.
