A North Carolina woman who went out to buy cookies this morning brought home something even more valuable – a lottery ticket worth 1,8 million euros ($2 million).
Amelia Estes, 51, of Thomasville, told North Carolina Education Lottery officials that she went out to Biscuitville Saturday morning to buy cookies and after finishing her errand, stopped at Sam's Mini Mart on West Green Drive in High Point to buy a 100X The Cash scratch ticket.
"Something was telling me to go get that ticket," Estes recalled. She scratched a top prize of 1.8 million euros ($2 million), reports said UPI, Telegrafi reports.
"I looked in amazement and my hands started shaking," she said, adding: "It was surreal." Estes rushed home to tell her mother.
"I walked into the house very quietly and said to my mom, 'I think we're millionaires,'" she said. "She was just sitting down," Estes added.
The winner said that the prize money will allow her to provide a lot for her family. "We're going to plan for a comfortable retirement now," Estes said. /Telegraph/
