Nikoloski: The tunnel agreement with Bulgaria was also a "French proposal"

Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikolovski, referring to the signing of the Agreement with Bulgaria for the Corridor 8 railway, said that "the problem was essentially more engineering, not political."
"It was not easy for Karadzhovi and the Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport should be given credit for that work. Because serious political structures in Bulgarian political life were against this. I don't think they generally know at all what the project is, but they are against good relations and the normalization of relations between Macedonia and Bulgaria," Nikoloski told "Telma".
The minister added that the French government and their Minister of Transport and Communications played an important role in concluding the agreement between Macedonia and Bulgaria.
"I think the minister understood that it was an engineering problem, not a political one, and that politics needed to be removed from it. And the recommendation was to discuss only topics related to the functionality of the project," Nikolloski added.
At a meeting in Istanbul, the Macedonian Railways project was presented, with which a solution was found.
"I presented the project that Macedonian Railways - Infrastructure has developed for the entire tunnel. They reviewed it and accepted it after a few days. They said that it was implemented in an excellent manner. I took on the obligation to accelerate work on the second part of the railway segment. This is the part that goes from Beljakovca to Kriva Palanka. We have started Beljakovca-Kumanovo, on which we are already working. There are still two unopened tunnels out of a total of 16 that will be on that route, and I took on the obligation to tender the third part that opens from Palanka towards the border, that is, towards the tunnel", explained Nikolloski. /Telegraph/
