Nico Williams has shocked Arsenal and Chelsea with his wage demands
Arsenal and Chelsea are among the clubs monitoring Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.
But the 22-year-old's high wage demands could be a significant obstacle to any potential summer transfer.
According to the Daily Mail, Williams' representatives are demanding a salary of €500 per week for the Spaniard, whose current contract expires in June 2027.
He is asking for around 24 million euros in salary per year, which has slightly upset Arsenal and Chelsea, the two clubs that want him the most.
Despite the growing interest, it remains possible that the highly-rated winger could sign a new contract with the Basque side, potentially with a revised release clause.
Transfermarkt currently values Williams at €70 million.
Nico Williams has appeared in 43 matches in all competitions this season, scoring 11 goals and contributing 7 assists. /Telegraph/
