TGRT television reported that one person was injured jumping from a balcony during the earthquake, but this has not yet been officially confirmed.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said emergency services had begun "on-the-ground assessments" and wished a speedy recovery to those affected. AFAD urged residents in the region not to enter damaged buildings.
