Never do this when deleting apps from your iPhone

Many users have the habit of regularly cleaning their iPhone by closing all apps.

But according to advice from Apple experts, this seemingly useful practice can actually harm your device's performance, reports Telegraph.

Recently, a TikTok user shared a surprising experience at an Apple store.

As he was regularly closing apps on his iPhone, an Apple technician stopped him, telling him, “Don’t do that.” The confused user couldn’t believe what he was hearing – that closing apps actually consumed more power and data, not less.”

As the techie explained, iPhone apps don't actively run in the background, as many people think. Instead, iOS automatically puts them to sleep.

"They just freeze when you're not using them," the technician said, adding: "Every time you force close them, the phone has to use extra power to restart them."

According to Apple's official guidelines, when you see recently used apps after double-pressing the Home button (or swiping up on newer models), those apps aren't actually active.

They are in a standby mode, allowing for faster access and more efficient multitasking. Force-closing these apps actually negates that advantage.

Apple recommends that you only force close apps if they "freeze" or aren't responding properly. Instead, it's better to leave them running even if there are "hundreds" of them.

The operating system manages resources on its own and intelligently stops background processes when necessary.

User reactions to this advice are mixed. Some complain that it annoys them to see all those "open" apps, while others confirm that their devices work perfectly even with dozens of open apps and hundreds of open browser tabs.

Experts and former Apple employees largely confirm the accuracy of this advice.

So, the next time you feel the need to "clean up" all the apps on your iPhone, think twice.

You may be able to extend battery life and save data by leaving them "open." /Telegraph/
