The head of NATO towards Turkey - what will he discuss with Erdogan?

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will discuss the latest developments in the Russia-Ukraine war with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during his visit to Ankara, a Turkish official has announced.

Russia hit Ukraine with a new hypersonic medium-range ballistic missile on Thursday in response to the use of US and British missiles by Kiev, marking an escalation in the war that began when Moscow went to war with its neighbor in February 2022.

It is known that Turkey, a member of NATO, which has condemned the Russian invasion, says that it supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and has offered Kiev military support, writes Reuters, the Telegraph reports.

But Turkey, a Black Sea neighbor of Russia and Ukraine, also opposes Western sanctions against Moscow, with which it shares important defense, energy and tourism ties.

Erdogan reportedly objected to a US decision to allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles to attack inside Russia, saying it would further fuel the conflict.

Otherwise, during the meeting, Erdogan and Rutte will also discuss the removal of defense procurement barriers between NATO allies and the military alliance's joint fight against terrorism. /Telegraph/
