Some schools face lack of heating, Nagavci reacts

Today the second semester has begun, but not in all municipalities of Kosovo.
Drenas, Malisheva and Fushë Kosova have decided to postpone the start of classes due to adverse weather and flooding.
Acting Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci, has announced that classes have not started in some municipalities due to heating problems.
Nagavci, in an interview with Kosovpress, said that this is the competence and misorganization of the municipalities. Among other things, he stressed that every lost hour must be replaced, for which he added that a plan will be made and shared with the municipalities.
"We have been in constant contact with the municipalities last night until late hours and today as well. And based on the information we have, in three municipalities the start of the school year has been postponed, in Malisheva due to the rainfall and the situation created with traffic difficulties, while in Fushë Kosovë and Drenas there have been problems due to the heating. So in three municipalities, in Drenas, in Malisheva and in Fushë Kosovë, the start of the teaching process has been postponed," she stated.
The Acting Minister of Education announced that schools in several other municipalities have also faced heating problems.
"In Pristina, they announced that they have started classes in all schools. In Ferizaj, it is only in one school. In the village of Tern, classes have not started, in other schools yes. This is due to problems with heating. In Kaçanik, Lipjan and Shtime, schools have started classes, but they have been reorganized by the municipality. In Prizren, Suhareka and Dragash, and in Mamusha, classes started today with a delay in two schools in Prizren due to problems with central heating. Meanwhile, in Vushtrri, classes have not started in the 'Dëshmorët' school in Zhilivoda due to problems with central heating," Nagavci added.
She blamed the municipalities for this, stating that it was misorganization.
"Yes, this is a big problem, but it is the responsibility of the municipality, the legal competence of the municipality. However, they must report in detail and every hour lost must be replaced. And of course, it must be addressed so that such problems do not occur in the future, because it is absurd to be left without raw materials for heaters in the middle of the winter period... This is irresponsibility and poor organization, it has nothing to do with, how should I say, like the issue of floods when it is something unplanned and in terms of external natural factors in this case", she said.
Asked how the lost hours will be compensated, Nagavci briefly said that a plan will be drawn up.
