NATO scrambled fighter jets after Putin launched 'murderous' attacks across Ukraine

NATO scrambled fighter jets overnight after Russia launched one of its deadliest attacks on the Ukrainian capital since the start of the war.

At least ten people were killed and more than 70 injured in rocket attacks on the capital Kiev, with apartment blocks and houses hit.

Six children and a pregnant woman were also rushed to hospital in the deadly attack, the Telegraph reports.

Putin's armed forces also struck Kharkiv, the Poltava region, Pavlohrad, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and Zhytomyr.

The Polish operational command announced that it had scrambled its own and NATO aircraft due to the intensity of Putin's bombing of Ukraine.

"Due to the activity of the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation, which is carrying out attacks on targets located, among others, in western Ukraine, the operation of Polish and allied aircraft has begun in Polish airspace," a statement said.

The commander "activated all available forces and resources. These measures aim to guarantee security in the areas bordering the threatened regions," it was said, among other things. /Telegraph/
