At the recent meeting of NATO Defense Ministers in Brussels, Corridor 8 was officially recognized as part of the Alliance's strategic infrastructure, a development that opens new opportunities for Kosovo in the field of security and regional cooperation.

Albania's Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, announced that the inclusion of Corridor 8 – which extends from the port of Durres to the Black Sea – as a security corridor for collective defense is an important achievement for regional stability and Albania's positioning as a key actor in the planning of NATO operations.

"The future of operations in which Albania is a part, and especially the KFOR operation in Kosovo, is being assessed by increasing capacities. Albania will increase its capacities and its involvement in this mission, including for the first time with its air force, while in close partnership with the United States of America and the American command in Europe, all necessary reassessments are being made for the future of this mission, which also constitutes a very good opportunity for the newly elected Government in Kosovo to increase qualitative and increasingly closer cooperation with the Alliance", declared Vengu.

Vengu noted that Albania is advancing in this direction and that new contracts in the defense sector are being implemented, receiving appreciation from allies.

"The third point of the talks had to do with how all allied countries are not only increasing defense investments, but are restructuring the way the military industry starts and generates more capabilities," he added.

"Albania has firmly embarked on this path and every day we are creating new capacities in terms of our industry with several contracts signed and several contracts under negotiation, all these elements were welcomed by all allies, while together with our Turkish colleagues and the Secretariat here in Brussels, our teams have begun preparing the Tirana Summit in the year two thousand and twenty-seven", added Vengu. /Telegrafi/
