Mustafa: The closure of Feronikel and the institutional silence is an alarm – complacency in power is hindering accountability

Economist Muhamet Mustafa has sharply criticized the lack of institutional response after the closure of Feronikeli, saying that a thousand workers were left without jobs while no one from the government came forward to explain why such a crisis occurred.
"Ferronikeli has gone, it has laid off a thousand workers... Who didn't come out to react why it was closed? Why did this happen?", he declared on "Përballje Podcast", writes Telegrafi.
Mustafa said that the public has the right to be informed and that a company with such great economic weight cannot be closed without transparency.
He added that institutional responsibility cannot be left to the investor alone.
"Maybe the investor is at fault, but the public needs to be informed," he stated.
He also criticized the mentality of the government, saying that a dangerous complacency has taken hold in the government and this is hindering the proper response to economic crises.
"There is an insufficient preoccupation, a complacency about being in power... you think you have good jobs, you have cars, the situation is flourishing - this is an illusion," Mustafa declared.
According to him, this approach disconnected from reality is seriously damaging institutions and the culture of accountability.

"There's no looking beyond that situation. It hinders sustainability, it hinders responsibility, it hinders accountability," he added.
Mustafa concluded the assessment by emphasizing that the closure of Feronikeli is a signal that should awaken institutions from complacency and return them to responsibility and pro-active action../Telegraph/.
