Serious incident in Vushtrri, murder suspect pleads guilty

The suspect in the shooting death of a 19-year-old man on Sunday evening at around 20:35 PM in Vushtrri has pleaded guilty.

This was announced by the spokesperson for the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica, Valon Preteni, who said that he admitted his guilt during the statement.

He further said that by decision of the prosecutor, the defendant is being held in detention for 48 hours.

"A suspect has been arrested for the criminal offense of 'Aggravated Murder', and the same person is being held in detention for 48 hours by decision of the prosecutor. The weapon with which this murder is suspected to have been committed has been seized, the prosecution and the police are collecting relevant evidence in relation to the case. During the taking of the statement, the defendant admitted his guilt for the murder," said Preteni.

He further said that within the legally prescribed deadline, the prosecution will submit a request for the imposition of pre-trial detention.

Otherwise, the Kosovo Police have arrested the suspect with the initials BD for the murder of AZ, 19, which occurred last evening in Vushtrri, while a pistol was confiscated during the search.

During the raid on his home, authorities also seized a long gun with five rounds of ammunition.

"From the initial investigations at the scene, it was determined that a person had fired a gun at the victim AZ, who was taken to the Vushtrri Hospital, where doctors confirmed that he had died. By order of the prosecutor, his body was sent for autopsy to the IML," said the Kosovo Police spokesperson for the Mitrovica region, Avni Zahiti.

Zahiti said that the victim was taken to Vushtrri Hospital, where the medical team confirmed that the victim was without signs of life. /Telegraph/
