Kosovo Police have provided additional details regarding a case of a missing person from the 1998-1999 war period, following the discovery of some mortal remains during excavations carried out in Rahovec.

According to the police, the competent unit has conducted excavations at a suspected location, where during the works, bone fragments of human origin were found. It is suspected that these remains may belong to an individual who disappeared during the war in Kosovo.


The skeletal remains were recovered from the scene and sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for autopsy and DNA analysis, with the aim of potentially identifying the victim.

Otherwise, the Government Commission for Missing Persons has announced that at the location known as "Përzhina" in Rahovec, assessment excavations for missing persons have resumed.

During these activities, mortal remains were discovered, which were exhumed and sent for forensic examination, while the identity and number of individuals will be confirmed only after the completion of the relevant analyses.

The excavations are being carried out in cooperation between the Government Commission for Missing Persons, the Kosovo Police and forensic experts, in an effort to shed light on the fate of persons who are still missing from the 1998-1999 war.

Authorities have announced that investigations and verifications on the ground will continue in the coming days. /Telegraph/
