The startup Thinking Machines Lab of former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati has unveiled its first product: Tinker, an API for tuning AI models.
What does Tinker do?
Tinker enables AI and security researchers to fine-tune large language models, allowing them to experiment with algorithms and data using Python, they write. foreign media.

The new tool allows users to customize existing models like LLaMA (from Meta) and Qwen (from Alibaba), to train them to solve specific tasks – like legal assistance, coding, translation, or even medical analysis.
"Tinker advances our mission to enable more people to research advanced models and adapt them to their needs," Thinking Machines Lab stated.
So, Tinker automates the complex process of creating AI models, making it possible for anyone to build and adapt advanced models, without the need for supercomputers or large technical teams.
Teams at Princeton University, Stanford University, the University of California, Berkeley, and Al's nonprofit security organization Redwood Research have already completed projects using Tinker.
