The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, has filed a defamation lawsuit against the Kosovo Assembly member and spokesperson for the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Besian Mustafa.
Çeku announced that a few days ago he had written an analysis about, as he calls it, "the lack of consistency in the public positions of the LDK leader, Lumir Abdixhiku", after which Mustafa had reacted within two hours.
According to Çeku, Mustafa's reaction did not contain any counter-arguments, but only baseless accusations and slander.
"There was only slander. From the claim of a 'financial mess' in the stadium projects, to the one about '257 thousand euro subsidies for my brother'," Çeku wrote in a public post.
The Minister stated that he initially asked Mustafa to retract his statements and apologize, but after this did not happen, he decided to pursue legal action.
"Since he did not respond within this deadline, I submitted the defamation lawsuit today to the Basic Court of Pristina," Çeku announced on March 24, 2025.
In the clashes between them, Çeku has accused LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku of, as he says, a contradictory stance on ambitions for the post of prime minister.
On the other hand, Mustafa has reacted by accusing Çeku of dubious tenders and subsidies, citing contracts worth 56 million euros signed in November 2024 and the allocation of funds to the 'Ec ma ndryshe' organization, which he previously led.
The clashes between the two continue, while the matter is now in the hands of justice.
