Meta is offering significant sums of money to join Facebook and Instagram amid TikTok uncertainty

Meta is offering popular American creators from competitor apps like TikTok the opportunity to earn $5,000 to create content on its platforms.

TikTok briefly went offline in the US on Sunday ahead of a ban imposed by Joe Biden, but hours later, it returned online with a message thanking his successor Donald Trump, who has lifted the ban for 75 days.

It is understood that the delayed ban brings uncertainty to creators on TikTok – many of whom make a living through the hugely popular app.

And it coincides with Meta's "Breakthrough bonus program" that offers creators from other apps up to $5000 in bonuses in the first 90 days of registration, it writes. sky news, the Telegraph reports.

They must share at least 20 videos on Facebook and 10 on Instagram within 30 days of accepting the terms and conditions of the bonus program, the Meta website states.

It is reported that videos must have original content from a US creator aged 18 or over, and although it does not mention TikTok by name, it says that the creator must have "an existing presence on a third-party social account."

Meta says it will calculate bonuses based on an assessment of each creator's "social presence," adding that the creator must also be completely new to Facebook or Instagram.

Otherwise, Trump saved TikTok after it was briefly banned on Sunday, but its American branch feels far from safe, as the app's owners have 75 days to convince American officials that it does not threaten national security.

A string of big names from the tech world and even the US government have been announced as potential new owners of the social media giant. /Telegraph/
