Meta faces another lawsuit in Africa "for the treatment of content moderators"

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, faces a second round of lawsuits in Africa over the psychological harms experienced by content moderators in Ghana.

The moderators, employed by the company Majorel in Accra, claim to have suffered from depression, anxiety and substance abuse due to exposure to violent and graphic content.

Some have reported harsh working conditions and inadequate mental health support.

This development comes after a similar case in Kenya, where dozens of moderators employed by Samasource were diagnosed with post-traumatic stress.

The preparation of the lawsuit in Ghana is being led by a British organization in collaboration with a local firm.

They claim that Meta and its contractors have neglected the safety and welfare conditions of workers.

Meta and Majorel's parent company have denied the allegations, stressing that they offer strong salaries and mental health support. /Telegraph/
