Mercedes admits: We may have lost some AMG C63 customers

Mercedes-Benz decided in 2022 to ditch the powerful twin-turbo V8 engine in the AMG C63 model and replace it with a hybrid system based on a four-cylinder engine.

As expected, the complex system delivers excellent performance, but potential buyers miss the aural drama of the V8 engine.

AMG boss Michael Schiebe told Car Magazine that "of course, there's no doubt we've lost some customers who loved the V8 engine. You really have to drive this car. It's a very compelling product."

“We have made great progress with this technology, but we needed to explain the technology more to our sellers and customers. We will continue to do this and improve further. There is a German saying: you never get a second chance for a first impression. Maybe we missed the first impression, but if you are given a chance, I am sure you will be convinced of the advantages of this technology,” he asserted.

The AMG C63 will remain with the hybrid system, but the new AMG CLE63 model will have a V8 engine, although it was originally planned to have a hybrid system as well. /Telegraph/
