Meloni against Trump's tariffs: His action is a mistake

Italy may not be one of the countries threatened with new US tariffs, but that hasn't stopped its prime minister from telling Donald Trump what she thinks of his decision.
Giorgia Meloni said she disagrees with Trump's tariff announcement and that the move was a "mistake."
"Predicting an increase in tariffs against those nations that have chosen to contribute to Greenland's security is a mistake and I disagree with it," she said.
Meloni revealed that he spoke with Trump a few hours ago and told him what he thought about the issue.
"I think he was interested in listening, but it seems to me that from the American point of view, the message coming from this side of the Atlantic was not clear," Meloni added.
She did not reveal Trump's reaction to her words.
Meloni suggested that there was likely a "problem of understanding and communication" between Europe and the US regarding the decision of several European states to deploy a limited number of troops to Greenland.
This decision, she emphasizes, should not be interpreted as "anti-American."
Therefore, "dialogue must resume and an escalation must be avoided." /Telegraph/
