Geriatrics case, Mehmedi: We will file an appeal against the court's decision

Lawyer Skender Mehmedi, defense attorney for the former director of the Specialized Hospital for Geriatric and Palliative Medicine, Muhsin Arifi, and Blerim Amiti, an employee at the institution, expressed dissatisfaction with the decision for the two defendants in the "Geriatria" case and announced that he will file an appeal with the Court of Appeal in Skopje.
"I am not satisfied with the length of the sentence imposed on the two defendants and consequently, it is our right to file an appeal and we will file an appeal with the Court of Appeal - Skopje," said Mehmedi, after today the Basic Criminal Court of Skopje sentenced Arif to four years in prison and Amit to one year and ten months.
According to him, the Court could have paid more attention to the defendant's behavior when making its decision, especially in the part related to the decision to detain them.
"Regarding the detention, we are also not satisfied, because we believe that in accordance with the severity of the sentence, the manner of execution and all the circumstances of the case, as well as the defendant's own behavior, in the conditions where one of the defendants is being protected from freedom, the court could at least have imposed a house arrest measure or other security measures," said Mehmedi./Telegraph/
