In December 2025, the president e European Commission (KE), Ursula von der Leyen announced the intention to lift all remaining measures against Kosovo by the end of January.

Regarding this, Telegrafi asked the EU how far the process for the complete lifting of the remaining measures has progressed.

The EU, in a written response to the Telegraph, said that after completing internal procedures, the Commission can now proceed with releasing the remaining 205 million euros in financial assistance.

According to them, this will be done after the signing of contracts for financial assistance planned under the IPA 2021 and 2022 programs is completed.

"The upcoming final release of funds will include: 74 million euros for projects under the IPA 2021 and 2022 annual programmes, as well as 131 million euros for projects under the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF)," the response states.

It is further emphasized that the Commission and the European External Action Service will strengthen their engagement with the Kosovo authorities, including a future visit by Commissioner Kos.

"For its part, Kosovo is expected to intensify the implementation of much-needed EU-related reforms and advance in fulfilling the obligations undertaken in the EU-facilitated Dialogue. The EU will continue to follow and assess the situation very closely," the response states.

The EU's punitive measures were imposed on Kosovo in June 2023 following rising tensions in the north of the country./Telegraph.
