In the Trepça mine, workers on the 11th horizon have extracted a large and rare crystal, part of a mineral massif containing pyrite and galena.

The Head of the Geological Service, Xhemajl Tupella, stated to KosovaPress that the crystal was discovered during works in workshop 151/A and presents special mineral values.

"This crystal was extracted by workers from the 11th horizon, namely from workshop 151/A. It is characterized by several natural cavities and is part of the massif containing pyrite and galena, while on the surface it is covered with white calcite. Its dimensions are about 1.40 meters high and 1.20 meters wide," said Tupella.

According to him, despite its considerable weight, the crystal was extracted with dedication by third-shift workers.

"It is very heavy and its extraction was not easy. However, the third shift workers, with great diligence, transported it via wagons, locomotive and body, making it ready for exit from the mine," he added.

The discovery of this crystal is considered evidence of the mineral wealth that Trepça possesses, as well as the miners' continued commitment to exploiting underground resources.
