The permanent Austrian representative in the EU, Ambassador Nikolaus Marschik, expressed hope that during the Austrian presidency of the Council of the EU, Macedonia and Albania will start negotiations for EU accession by the end of this year. Austria takes over the presidency of the EU on July 1 of this year, Telegrafi Macedonia conveys.

He said he is waiting for the time of the security meeting in Strasbourg, set for September, to reach a solution on immigration.

Ambassador Marschik said that the countries of the Western Balkans should be the first partners of the EU.
