Manchester City gave up on signing the most wanted player this summer – due to the high asking price
Manchester City appear to be giving up on the transfer of German international Florian Wirtz, reports the BBC.
Specifically, after initial contacts, Man City believe the transfer is too expensive and will focus on other goals.
Morgan Gibbs-White remains on the wish list for the number ten position, while Tijjani Reijnders is Man City's priority target for the number eight position.

In addition to Man City, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Real Madrid have also expressed interest in Wirtz, making him the most sought-after player of next summer.
The Leverkusen attacking midfielder's market value is estimated at 140 million euros.
Five years ago, Wirtz moved to Bayer Leverkusen's first team from the German club's junior division, and in the current season he has amassed 16 goals and 15 assists in 45 appearances.
He made his debut for the German national team in 2021 and has since made 29 appearances in which he has scored six goals. /Telegraph/
