Macron: Invasion of Ukraine has weakened Russia and strengthened Europe

At the Munich Security Conference, Emmanuel Macron warns that the war in Ukraine is an "existential challenge" for Europe.
The French president focused mainly on Ukraine and presented a positive view of Europe, which, according to him, often underestimates itself and its powers.
"If you look at the last four years, Russia, after the invasion of Ukraine, is a weakened country. It has wasted enormous amounts of money on a senseless war and has entered a recession. It is economically isolated and completely dependent on China. Meanwhile, the country already had serious demographic problems and has lost hundreds of thousands of young lives for an illusion," he claimed.

The French leader also points out that, rather than limiting the size of NATO, Russia's invasion pushed more countries to join and forced Europe to increase defense spending, writes sky news.
Macron stressed that he supports US President Donald Trump's peace efforts, but underlined that Russia "continued to attack civilians and hit energy facilities" in Ukraine, saying that the response to this must be more pressure on Russia.
The French head of state also says that the time has come for Europe to advance as a geopolitical power.
Macron adds that even if there is a peace agreement for Ukraine, Europe will still have to deal with an aggressive Russia.
Otherwise, France and Germany have begun discussions about European nuclear weapons. /Telegraph/
