MP Kodra-Deliu: The increase in the price of electricity is open theft against citizens

PDK MP, Blerta Deliu-Kodra, has reacted before today's protest in Pristina against the increase in the price of electricity.

Deliu - Kodra, through a post on Facebook, said that the increase in the price of electricity is open theft against citizens.

"It is your daily work that is being mercilessly stolen from you. What else do they have to take away from you? Your dignity? Your future?" she wrote, reports the Telegraph.

"This injustice must stop! Not a single cent more from the citizen's sweat!" wrote MP Deliu - Kodra.

The Board of the Energy Regulatory Office of Kosovo (ERO) is expected to make a decision today on the proposal to increase the price of electricity by 15 percent.

A few hours after the regulator's morning meeting, a protest was announced at noon to oppose the electricity price hike.

Activist of the "Not a Cent More" Initiative, Besnik Shabiu, has called on citizens to mobilize to oppose the increase in the price of electricity.

The energy regulator last month proposed increasing the price of electricity in the country by about 15 percent, arguing that the increase in tariffs this year is necessary due to the decrease in energy production, increased consumption and heavy dependence on high-priced imports.

The request for an increase in the price of electricity was opposed by the Presidency and by citizens who protested last week.

The incumbent government has called on ERO not to increase the price of electricity for consumers who consume less than 800 kilowatts per month. /Telegraph/
