The Chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, has announced that he will offer his resignation at the party's Assembly, which is expected to be held soon, while the decision on whether or not to accept it will be made through a vote of delegates.

Abdixhiku made these statements after a several-hour meeting held on Tuesday with his associates at the LDK headquarters.

He emphasized that offering his resignation is part of a democratic process and that the LDK Assembly is the only body that has the authority to decide on this issue.

Abdixhiku said that every member of the LDK has the right to run individually for the position of chairman, underlining that the party remains united and that all decisions will be formalized through party bodies.

He explained that Tuesday's meeting was informal, while the first formal meeting will be that of the LDK Presidency, which is expected to be held next week. After that, the party's Assembly will also be convened.

"LDK is unique and united. Issues are raised in such consultations and then formalized in party bodies. The only formal meeting is that of the Presidency, which is expected to be held next week, while the LDK Assembly will be held after it," Abdixhiku declared.

He added that if the LDK Assembly does not accept his resignation, he will be obliged to continue as chairman, emphasizing that deviating from the membership decision would be irresponsible.

"Every decision that will be made will be a joint decision and in accordance with the will of the LDK Assembly," he said.

In the December 28 elections, the LDK recorded one of the weakest results in its history, ranking third with 13.23 percent of the vote./Telegraph.
