Luka Modric signs a contract with Real Madrid like he has never had in his career

Luka Modric signs a contract with Real Madrid like he has never had in his career

Luka Modric's future at Real Madrid remains uncertain, but the Croatian veteran received a rare contract extension today.

Luka Modric's contract expires on June 30 of this year. Unlike the previous contracts he signed with Real Madrid, the midfielder has extended his contract today for just one month.

Real Madrid has a serious reason for this, which is to be able to play in the Club World Cup, a new 32-team competition that will last most of the summer.

The Club World Cup starts in June and Modric would not be able to play without a contract. So in Madrid they decided to extend his collaboration and the same situation is with Lucas Vazquez.

The pair have extended their contracts until July, but there is no word yet on whether they will have longer contracts.

The futures of Modric and Vazquez remain unclear and there is a possibility that they will end their successful spells at the Santiago Bernabeu after July.

Modric has shown this season that he still has the right quality to be a Real Madrid player, but the club's administration is still considering whether the Croatian veteran and once the best player in the world will need another year.

Unlike Modric and Vazquez, what is known is that Carlo Ancelotti will probably not manage the team and will leave Madrid very soon. It is not known whether a permanent coach will be appointed until the start of the Club World Cup. /Telegraph/
