Living expenses have increased by 4,5 percent, citizens complain

Living expenses in October increased by 4.5% compared to the same month last year, the State Statistical Office (ESHS) announced. Statistics have identified a significant increase in spending on food and non-alcoholic beverages by 7.0%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 6.7%, while citizens have had a more pronounced increase in spending on recreation and culture by almost 8%, as well as on visits to restaurants and hotels by over 5%, and on the purchase of vegetables by 4.3%. According to statistics, at a monthly level there is a minimal decrease in spending of 0.2%.
"The decrease in inflation in October 2025, compared to September 2025, is the result of a decrease in living costs in these groups: Transportation by 6.1%, Furniture, household appliances and household maintenance by 0.3%, Education and Recreation and culture by 0.1%," say the State Statistical Office.
Citizens say that the standard of living is falling every day, they complain that they can barely survive the month. According to them, the authorities only pass the responsibility from one to another and no one takes measures to improve the living standard of citizens.
"Our standard is very low, everything is expensive – prices have increased without limit, and they could increase even more," said one citizen.
"This is just propaganda, what prices - every day the price increases by three denars, by five denars," said another citizen.
"Expensive," replied a citizen.
"That's not exactly true. - How are the prices? - Higher," said a citizen.
Meanwhile, the election campaign has overshadowed citizens' complaints about the high prices of basic products. According to trade union calculations, a family of four needs over 65 thousand denars just for basic needs. /Alsat/
