Liverpool could do Real Madrid a favour for Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool could do Real Madrid a favour for Alexander-Arnold

Real Madrid are close to finalising a deal for Trent Alexander-Arnold, which could be completed before his contract with Liverpool expires on June 30.

Under normal circumstances, this would not be possible, but Los Blancos' presence in the newly redesigned Club World Cup makes it a real possibility.

In mid-June, the Club World Cup will kick off in the United States, and one of the favorites to win it is Real Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti's side will face Al Hilal, Pachuca and RB Salzburg in the group stage, and there is a possibility that Alexander-Arnold could be able to play for them in these matches.

FIFA has already approved the opening of a mini-transfer window before the start of the Club World Cup. It is during this period that Real Madrid can register Alexander-Arnold, which means he could play for them in the United States.

And if the club decides to pursue this option, according to reports TalksportLiverpool - who will not be taking part in the Club World Cup - are not expected to block the deal from being completed before Alexander-Arnold's contract expires. However, it remains to be seen whether they will demand any compensation to give the green light.

Real Madrid's starting right-back, Dani Carvajal, is currently out of action due to a ligament injury suffered at the start of the season.

While he aims to return for the Club World Cup, it would be risky to suggest he could be immediately ready to play.

Therefore, Alexander-Arnold's arrival makes a lot of sense, especially as Ancelotti has been careful to rely on Lucas Vazquez for important matches.

For now, the main focus remains finalizing the agreement with the Englishman. /Telegraph/
