Lionel Messi did not hesitate when he mentioned the talent which reminds him of himself when he was young

Lionel Messi has identified a player from the 'new generation' who reminds him of himself when he was younger. 

The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner visited Adidas' headquarters in Germany this week, along with team-mates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. 

There, Messi was present on stage together with the head of Adidas, Bjorn Gulden, who asked the Argentine some questions. 

Messi answered a number of those questions, but one answer he gave about Lamine Yamal had everyone talking. 

"Football is changing and there is a new generation growing up. Who is a player from this new generation that you look at and think, 'That's me when I was younger'." 

"I've heard of Lamine Yamal, without a doubt. It depends on him and also on other factors, to stay consistent, but he is already part of the present and without any doubt, he has a great future ahead of him", said Messi. 

This is not the first time that Messi has been asked to identify the best young talent in the world of football. 

Earlier in 2020, the Argentine mentioned Jadon Sancho, Mason Mount and Phil Foden when asked to name 15 players who are on the rise./Telegraph/
