The Vetëvendosje Movement Center in Prizren has reacted to the indictment filed by the Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren against several municipal officials and a representative of an economic operator for the criminal offenses of abuse of official position, namely fraud in public procurement.
According to this political entity, the scandal is worth over 550 thousand euros, with the suspicion that the financial damage is over 412 thousand euros to the budget of the Municipality of Prizren.
"According to the indictment, municipal officials, in collaboration with private companies, have illegally favored a group of economic operators in a public tender for "Renovation and maintenance of municipal facilities", ignoring five other offers with lower prices. Furthermore, the contract was managed irresponsibly and in violation of the law on public procurement, ending with the realization of only part of the foreseen works and creating direct damage to the public finances of the citizens of Prizren", states the reaction of the LVV in Prizren, reports Telegrafi.
This case, according to the reaction, is clear evidence of the capture of institutions at the local level by the Democratic Party of Kosovo and its mayor Shaqir Totaj, "who have transformed the Municipality of Prizren into a place of clientelistic favors, institutional corruption and the misuse of public money."
"We reiterate that the governance of PDK and Mayor Shaqir Totaj has become a symbol of misuse and extortion of public money in the Municipality of Prizren. The citizens of Prizren do not deserve a government immersed in corrupt affairs! The VETËVENDOSJE Movement! Center in Prizren believes that the citizens of Prizren deserve an honest, transparent government at their service!", the reaction states. /Telegraph/
