The leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, has invited the leaders of the two opposition parties, Lumir Abdixhiku of the LDK and Memli Krasniqi of the PDK, to a meeting.
The meeting is scheduled to be held tomorrow, May 1, at 08:30 in room N-204 of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.
In the letter to Abdixhiku, Kurti emphasized the importance of representing the three largest parties in the positions of deputy speakers of the Assembly, requesting a joint meeting on this issue.
"Based on the Constitution, three vice-presidents will be from the three parties that won the most seats, therefore I invite you to a joint meeting with Mr. Memli Krasniqi, the President of the PDK, in room N-204 of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, tomorrow (Thursday), May 1, 2025, at 8:30. Hoping for a positive response, I greet you," Kurti wrote.
But the Democratic League of Kosovo has rejected the invitation.
MP Hykmete Bajrami has stated that neither President Abdixhiku nor any other LDK representative will participate in the meeting.
"However, neither President Abdixhiku nor anyone from the Democratic League of Kosovo will participate in this meeting. The position of Deputy Speaker of the Assembly belonging to the Democratic League of Kosovo is based on the election result, and is not subject to discussion with any other party. Moreover, the deputy speakers are voted in packages by the Assembly, according to the practice so far," said Bajrami.
PDK has not yet commented publicly on Kurti's invitation.
