The head of the Democratic League of Kosovo branch in Mitrovica, Gëzim Plakolli, has announced that the LDK has made a decision to leave the governing coalition in this municipality, due to, as it is said, the mayor's failure to respect the co-governance agreement.

In a public statement distributed on the social network Facebook, Plakolli emphasized that the decision was made after the continued disregard of the official proposals of the LDK Branch in Mitrovica.

"The Democratic League of Kosovo, Mitrovica Branch informs the public that, due to the non-respect of the agreement on co-governance and the disregard of the official proposals of the LDK Branch, it has made a decision to withdraw from the governing coalition," the statement said.

According to Plakolli, the main reason for this decision is the appointment of the Director of the Directorate for Culture, Youth and Sports, which, according to him, was made without consultation and in violation of previous agreements.

"The appointment of the Director of the Directorate for Culture, Youth and Sports, carried out unilaterally and without any warning by Mayor Peci, is in complete contradiction with the previous agreements as well as with the proposals approved by the LDK bodies in Mitrovica," Plakolli declared.

He clarified that this appointment does not represent the position of the LDK nor its branch in Mitrovica. "For this reason, we clarify that this appointment does not represent the LDK nor its branch in Mitrovica," it further emphasizes.

At the end of the statement, Plakolli announced that the decision to leave the coalition is binding for all party representatives at the local level. “This decision is binding for all LDK members in Mitrovica, including LDK delegates to the Mitrovica Municipal Assembly,” the statement said.

We recall that Peci had offered the LDK the Speaker of the Assembly and two directors, while they had disagreements over the appointment of one of the directors - which caused the collapse of the coalition. /Telegrafi/
